BY CAR / MOTORBIKE

Since December 2004 the 26 km long section of the Baltic Sea motorway A20 from Lubeck to Schonberg has finally been opened to the traffic.  Now the travel time to the island of Rugen has become much shorter.

Directions from Berlin:
Take A24 north – at the motorway junction “Wittstock” change to A19 direction Rostock. At the motorway crossing  “Rostock” change to A20 direction “Stralsund”. Exit the motorway at “Stralsund” and continue in direction “Stralsund”.

Directions from Hamburg:
Take A1 east in direction “Lubeck”. At Schonberg change to motorway A20 towards Rugen / Stralsund. Exit the motorway at “Stralsund” and continue in direction “Stralsund”.

Pass the city of  “Stralsund” and follow the signs for “Rugen”. Getting closer to your destination – you will cross the brigde “Rugendamm”, which is closed for approximately 20 minutes during the following times: 02:30 a.m. / 05:20 a.m. / 09:20 a.m. / 5:20 p.m. and  9:30 p.m.
Alternatively the water can be crossed with a ferry boat near “Glewitz”, which is situated south of Stralsund. From  April 01st to October 31st the ferry operates daily every 20 minutes from 6:00 a.m.  until 9:40 p.m. During the winter and in stormy weather the ferry service is not in operation.
After crossing the “Rugendamm” and / or passage with the ferry boat please follow the B96 up to the road sign for "Binz, Gohren, Thiessow", there follow the B196, which now leads you directly to the Baltic Sea resort Sellin.

Arriving in Sellin:
After the town indicator “Sellin” take the first left turn - crossing the rail tracks. Follow the main road turning right and drive on up to the sign "Wilhelmstrasse". There take a left turn onto the boulevard “Wilhelmstrasse”. The entrance to the hotel is 300 metres on your left hand side and is marked by a sign "Hotel-Park Ambiance Reception". The car park is also situated in the back of the hotel.

Our travel tips:
In order to avoid traffic jams especially during high season we recommend to regularly listen to the traffic news in the radio in order to use alternative routes if necessary. You should also look out for stationary radar units all over the island. For example at the turn-off to “Putbus” coming from “Bergen” or in “Lancken Granitz” shortly before arriving in Sellin.
